WhatTheVet was born from a simple frustration: why can't you find out what a vet visit will cost before you go? We're changing that, one clinic at a time.
Why we built this
Like a lot of pet owners, I had no idea what a vet appointment would cost until I was standing at the reception desk. The same consultation (the same ten-minute conversation with a vet) could be £35 at one clinic and £75 at another down the road. There was no way to know in advance, and that felt wrong.
Maisy, my dog, made that very clear the first time she needed treatment. The bill was fine, but the uncertainty leading up to it wasn't. So I started building something to fix it.
WhatTheVet collects and publishes real pricing data from UK vet clinics so that every pet owner can search, compare, and plan before they're stressed, before the appointment, before the surprise bill lands.

I'm a developer and pet owner based in Staffordshire. I built WhatTheVet because I wanted a product I'd actually use myself, and because I believed pet owners deserved better than guesswork when it came to vet costs.
Maisy keeps me grounded. She's also an excellent QA tester (mainly of the sofa, but still).
